Ἑλένη

Daughter of the white Cygnus,

I, Paris, to Troy invite

My Luna, Torch of the night,

Daughter of Leda and of Zeus.

You left the cruel Menelaus

and from Sparta sailed away,

into our immortal day,

To become my Trojan Princess.

Every man that has known you,

Be they commoners or kings,

With or without royal rings,

Would slaughter or parish for you.

I take up my sword and shield.

I gird up myself for war…

All the cosmos is at war.

I shall never retreat or yield.

Your soul sets the world on fire.

Your face launched a thousand ships

From those who would kiss your lips.

But mine alone is your desire!
