The fog surrounds the two of us

In a dinghy drifting free.

The air is brisk and chaps our skin

As it sweeps up off the sea.

Yet I feel burgeoning warmth

In my spirit from a flame

That only God can kindle

At the mention of your name.

The stars are shining, glimmering

But they are not in the sky.

The haze extinguished every light

Save the sparkle in your eye.

For a year we have been drifting.

We’ve been drifting in the sea.

I pray we never drift ashore

So you will abide with me.
